Since forming in 1994, Solitary have stood firm in their commitment to Promise to Thrash Forever, proudly hoisting high the UK thrash flag throughout the pre-millennium lean years. Solitary continued to deliver the goods when everyone else gave up. Over almost three decades, their commitment has been unflinching, their integrity unquestionable, and the comparisons to the '80s thrash legends humbling but, in all honesty, truly deserved.
With their first two albums, 1998’s Nothing Changes and 2008’s Requiem, they proved they had what it takes to match the genre’s best. Upon the resurgence of Thrash scene in the UK, Solitary played several shows with the likes of Xentrix, Lawnmower Deth, Toranaga and D.A.M. and decided to celebrate their twentieth anniversary in 2014 with the release of a live album. The album I Promise To Thrash Forever was mastered by Darkane vocalist Lawrence Mackrory once more confirmed Solitary’s total dedication to pure thrash metal.
2017 kicked off with the release of The Diseased Heart of Society. With the help of world-renowned producer Simon Efemey, Solitary created a monster of a release, praise poured in from the world’s metal press, and prestigious shows followed, with the band appearing alongside Destruction and Napalm Death at Hammerfest. They also played with Onslaught at Thrashersaurus, as well as their headline shows across the UK and in the Netherlands.
25 years of Promising to Thrash Forever came around in 2019. Such a milestone could not be allowed to slip by unnoticed. The band headed out to Europe once again to perform at the Czech Republic’s Aggressive Music Fest and returned to the UK for a triumphant performance on the Sophie Lancaster stage at Bloodstock Open Air. To coincide with the anniversary, Solitary also released a limited edition, celebratory EP entitled XXV.
German label Metalville Records, home to rock legends such as Lee Aaron, Ugly Kid Joe and Dog Eat Dog signed Solitary for their next release, 'The Truth Behind The Lies'. Despite being released amid a global pandemic, the deadly combination of Solitary and Simon Efemey managed to eclipse the sales of previous releases and batter their way into the Top Ten of the Amazon Thrash Metal Charts. The album received critical acclaim from major publications such as Metal Hammer, Aardshok, Rock Hard, Zero Tolerance, Powerplay and many more. They hit the road post-lockdown for a series of dates with Acid Reign, ending 2021 with the release of their fifth promo video from the album.
In late April 2022, Metalville Records released XXV Live at Bloodstock, a CD/DVD package containing the 2019 Bloodstock show plus interviews and all of Solitary’s promo videos. The CD also includes remixed versions of the XXV Studio tracks. Solitary embarked on a UK tour in June to support the release of both The Truth Behind The Lies and XXV Live at Bloodstock. Upon their return, they commenced pre-production with Simon Efemey for album number 5.
In 2023 Solitary commenced The Thrash Domination Tour with German label mates Eradicator; the two bands played over 25 dates in the UK, Ireland and Europe. Solitary used to tour to promote their Thrashography 1998 – 2017, a 3 CD package of Nothing Changes, Requiem and The Diseased Heart of Society, the original versions now being out of print and sold out.
Solitary celebrated their 30th Anniversary by releasing 'Embrace The Darkness', which arrived in the summer of 2024. A truly independent release having formed their own label Twisted Into Form, it saw the band build on their previous successes and surpass both the streaming and physical sales figures of The Diseased Heart of Society and The Truth Behind The Lies by the end of 2024, ready for the expanded edition of The Truth Behind The Lies being their first release of 2025.
